Second Street Community Center Renamed In Honor Of Kenneth Bates

The Second Street Community Center was renamed for beloved community leader Kenneth A. Bates at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday in Hopkinsville.

There was a large crowd at the community center to honor Bates and his legacy, something Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam said was a perfect example of Bates’ presence in the community.

Magistrate Magaline Ferguson thanked Bates for sharing his legacy with the people of Hopkinsville.

Christian County Chamber of Commerce President Taylor Hayes stressed the importance of unity, collaboration, and honoring Bates’ memory by working together as a community.

To complete the dedication, the Christian County Chamber of Commerce along with community members performed the official ribbon cutting for the new Kenneth A. Bates Community Center.

Bates passed away in February of this year. His legacy and spirit will live on through the community center and Hopkinsville for years to come.
