A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting a police officer and robbery on East 9th Street Tuesday night.
Hopkinsville Police say they were called to the Dollar General for 39-year-old Jarvis Caldwell who was seen putting Tide pods in his pants.
When he was confronted by an employee he allegedly pushed the employee before fleeing the store.
Police say he was located on College Street and while being arrested he grabbed and twisted the officer’s arm and then grabbed his ankle. He then reportedly tried to bite the officer while being buckled in the vehicle.
He is charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, second-degree robbery, second-degree fleeing or evading police, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
