Murray Man Indicted For Possessing Molotov Cocktail

A Murray man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly possessing a Molotov cocktail.

The indictment was announced Wednesday by United States Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky and Special Agent in Charge R. Shawn Morrow of the ATF Louisville Field Division.

According to the indictment, 20-year-old Jack Thomas Epperson was found to have a Molotov cocktail on September 10, 2022, in Calloway County. The device was not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

Epperson appeared in court on Monday. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge, who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. It is important to note that there is no parole in the federal system.

The case is being investigated by the ATF Paducah Satellite Office, with assistance from the Kentucky State Police, Murray Police Department, and Murray State University Police Department.
