Trigg School Board Approves Stipend Reallocation

With a resurgence of the area theatre, the Trigg County Schools may be getting in on the action, if they can find the right person to lead.

Thursday night, after paying several construction-related bills, the School Board was asked to create a winter guard assistant coach stipend by reallocating an unpaid drama coach stipend.

Board member Gayle Rufli shared her concern about the lack of non-sports-related extracurricular activities, especially the drama club.

Other board members agreed, with Charlene Sheehan acknowledging that finding a volunteer is difficult.

The Board did vote to transition one of two drama coach stipends into the $1,560 stipend for a winter guard assistant coach. Superintendent, Bill Thorpe says they will post the drama coach position and reach out about possible community partnerships.

In other news, Thorpe told the board next month they will be celebrating six to eight students.

Aurora Ives, Rhett Plymale, David Rivers, Amy Roberts, Xander Slover, and Walker Wadlington have all qualified so far for the 28+ Club.

Meanwhile, Trigg County Clerk, Carmen Finley presented board members with a revised school board seat district map which sees a little growth in District 1 and a loss of area for District 4.

The Board agreed to discuss the matter at its next meeting.
