A Hopkinsville man was charged with trafficking fentanyl after a traffic stop on North Drive Saturday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say 34-year-old Frenchy Jenkins was stopped for his registration showing canceled due to failure to maintain required insurance.
During the stop, officers could reportedly smell marijuana, and after a search of the vehicle marijuana, a hallucinogenic, and a 9mm handgun loaded with hollow point ammunition were found.
Police say Jenkins admitted to having fentanyl pills in a bottle in his underwear.
He was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, carrying a concealed weapon, using restricted ammunition during a felony, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree possession of a controlled substance (hallucinogen), possession of marijuana, failure to produce an insurance card, and improper registration plate.
