The Department of the Army announced Wednesday that around 3,400 soldiers will deploy this fall.
The members come from the 101st Airborne Division Air Assault – 3rd Brigade Combat Team, also known as the “Rakkasans.” They will be heading to Eastern Europe to replace the division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team, “Bastogne,” and will not alter the overall force posture of the United States in the region. The 1st Brigade is on a nine-month deployment that began in March and is scheduled to return home soon.
The 3rd Brigade Combat Team’s deployment is set to commence within the next few months. They will be joining various other units that are currently reinforcing NATO’s Eastern Flank, demonstrating the unwavering commitment of the United States to Europe and its regional allies. This deployment is part of the ongoing response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
