The Christian County Board of Education approved the 2023-24 working budget that will include bonuses and possibly pay raises for school personnel.
The board unanimously approved the working budget, including a carryover of $5.5 million from the 2022-23 school year. Director of Finance Jessica Darnell says the budget includes a bonus and likely a pay raise for staff.

The board approved seeking bids for a Motorola Weapons Detection system that was recommended for the Hopkinsville and Christian County Middle Schools during a safety report by Superintendent Chris Bentzel. District Technology Director Dr. Jason Wilson says they want to stay with the same type of system that is already in use in all three high schools.

The board approved a revised BG-1 for the new Christian County High School construction project, with the document reflecting a $136,000 decrease in the cost. Board members approved a $162,417 payment for the new school to Alliance Corporation and a $2,886 fee to Lynn Imaging for conceptual drawings of the new high school.
Following a presentation from Assistant Superintendent Jessica Addison the board approved a contract with Ford Next Generation Learning for phase 3 of the program at a cost of $125.600.
During recognitions Sinking Fork Elementary student Willow Johnson was recognized as Student of the Month. South Christian Elementary teacher Candice Anderson was named Teacher of the Month. Angel Stephenson from Bluegrass Learning Academy was named Secondary Teacher of the Month. Classified Employee of the Month was Hopkinsville Middle School’s Shannon Lanier. Christian County High School Athletic Director Troy Wheeler was named Administrator of the Month. Christian County High School Assistant Band Director Calvin Warren was recognized for being named Third District KMEA Music Teacher of the Year.
