The real winners from the 2023 Military Affairs Committee Chili Cookoff are the nonprofits of Christian County. Friday evening, more than 750 people came to downtown Hopkinsville to sample 18 chilis and decide a favorite – the Hopkinsville Fire Department.
They also donated their 3rd place wins to Sanctuary. Taking second place was the Walmart Distribution Center, who donated their winnings to United Way. Grand Prize went to University Heights Academy.
The UHA team donated their $1,000 prize to Max's Hope Pet Rescue. Fortera Credit Union won the Best Decorations vote and named Grace and Mercy as the recipient of their prize. New this year was the Mayor's Award.
The Cornbread Competition had 12 entries – taking 3rd place was the Knights of Columbus, 2nd place First Baptist Church who donated their prize to the USO, and 1st place to Terri Meacham.
