The Trigg County Historical Society and the Between the Rivers committee are coming together Saturday to host a dedication for the Fenton Overlook.
Jim Wallace, who has become instrumental in preserving local history, tells Your News Edge the Fenton area became popular as a formal crossing of the Tennessee River.
Wallace says that the purchase allowed residents to move further west if they desired.
Former Kentucky Parks Commissioner Donnie Holland says that volunteers have been an integral part in ensuring the stories of former Between the Rivers residents are being shared.
Joann Wallace Harvey adds there are over 250 graveyards within the bounds of Land Between the Lakes.
Mark Turner, who recently moved back to the region, is glad to continue helping with recent projects.
Saturday’s dedication begins at 10:00 AM at the trailhead in the Fenton area south of U.S. 68/Kentucky 80 near the Kentucky Lake bridge. Those attending will need to bring chairs, but the program is expected to be short.
