Cadiz Police Department Promotes Three

The Cadiz Police Department experienced a big shift in leadership Tuesday morning, when Mayor Todd King swore in promotions for Jack Lingenfelter, Richard Palmer and Tristan Wampler.

A native of Christian County, Lingenfelter moves from an SRO sergeant to major, where he will serve as second to Police Chief Tyler Thomas and assume considerable duties within the agency.

A native of Calloway County, Palmer will remain as an SRO for Trigg County Schools and serve as a lead for the group, before turning to patrol work during the summers.

And a native of Bloomington, Indiana, Wampler will operate as a first-line supervisor for patrol efforts around the city, after most recently working as a patrolman.

Lingenfelter admitted it was going to be “difficult” to further step away from the campus of the Wildcats and into other roles, especially with his children there, but admitted he would almost certainly be an active and engaged major at the schools.

The funny part: Lingenfelter said he wasn’t even sure about being an SRO. And now, he’s not sure about being major.

Furthermore, he noted that CPD is “in a good place,” following the retirement of former Chief Duncan Wiggins.

Palmer agreed, and said he’s very much looking forward to continuing his career as an elevated SRO.

Wampler also nodded, and agreed.

According to Chief Thomas, the CPD is currently seeking two replacements for the force: one street position and one SRO position, and the next month will be considerably busy for all.

The Trigg County Country Ham Festival typically commands the attention of all local and regional agencies, including the Kentucky National Guard, and Thomas confirmed Lingenfelter, Palmer and Wampler are all in line for extended training opportunities in Richmond.
