Under advisement from Sheriff Aaron Acree and to a benefit for the department, Trigg County Fiscal Court Monday night voted unanimously in favor for the purchase of a new pursuit-ready 2023 black Chevrolet Tahoe.
Using monies created by the ABC Fund, its state-contract cost is $45,617.92 — and, according to Acree, will arrive from Louisville’s Bachman Auto Group much sooner than expected.
Acree further noted the purchase comes with the appreciation of both he and his deputies, and both he and Judge-Executive Stan Humphries added that there were no vehicles purchased by the agency in the last fiscal year — and perhaps longer.
Acree also provided a considerable update on September’s activity, which included more than 580 calls of service.
Among those, Acree drew attention to several:
— Three accidents with injuries;
— 14 accidents without injuries;
— Three assisting agency calls;
— 75 attempts to serve civil papers;
— Five domestics;
— 20 extra patrol requests;
— 11 initiated investigations;
— Two mental health calls, which he called a “positive, significant decrease;”
— 18 motorists assistance calls;
— Two thefts, in which property was recovered in both;
— 52 traffic stops;
— 20 prisoner transports;
— 15 welfare checks;
— And 33 cases opened.
Acree said the speed and mobile radar machine has helped slow motorists in hotspot areas, and it could deter others as it’s moved around and shared in different districts.
Other calls to the office: 39 for reckless drivers, 45 for animal complaints, 13 for suspicious, 15 for subjects present, and three for shots fired.
In other court news:
— Humphries said magistrates will be spending the final quarter of this year deciding on the final plans necessary to finish the remodel and rebuild of the Trigg County Recreation Complex concession stand. It still remains in a design phase, with soil & water conservation dollars expected to help with its repair.
— Trigg County’s Road Supervisor Brandon Calhoun noted chipping and sealing efforts continue to go well, with five roads set to be finished this week.
