Jerry Woodburn Oglesby, 78, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky died at 12:49 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2023, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Per his wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, and to honor his life, donations in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, he was born on December 3, 1944, the son of the late Woodburn Oglesby and Della Elizabeth Hall Oglesby. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Oglesby, and a sister, Becky Oglesby Windhorst.
Jerry graduated from Hopkinsville High School where he excelled in track, basketball, football, and baseball. He attended Bethel College in Hopkinsville and thereafter pursued a career in sales working for several local companies including Howard D. Happy, Cayce Yost, Rexel Southland, Hannah Supply, and Cayce Mill Supply. He enjoyed tennis, golf, and many sports but will be most remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, giving spirit, and devotion to family.
Survivors include his wife: Judy Seuffert Oglesby of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; his daughters: Joy Oglesby (Mike) Cheatham of Clarksville, TN, Jan Oglesby of Hopkinsville, Julie Oglesby (Dave) Spottiswood of Hopkinsville, and Jeri Beth Oglesby (Eric) Glapa of Clarksville, TN; and nine grandchildren.
