The Hopkinsville Police Department saw two officers complete training through the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond.
David Littleton was one of 34 officers who graduated Thursday from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training’s police academy in Richmond.
Littleton was part of the 542nd academy class that received 20 weeks of training that included patrol procedures, physical training, vehicle operations, defensive tactics, criminal law, traffic and DUI, firearms, criminal investigations, and cultural awareness.
Littleton will receive field training on Hopkinsville Police Department procedures and begin his patrol duties.
On September 29, Sgt. Shannon Wells was one of 24 Kentucky police officers who graduated from the Academy of Police Supervision.
The three-week program is targeted for newly promoted sergeants or officers who are on their agency’s promotion list to become sergeants.
The training was launched in 2003 as one of the state’s illustrious leadership courses aimed at developing and shaping future and current police leaders.
The training program is a deep dive into how to positively influence groups of people, as well as how to apply situational leadership, demonstrate an understanding of constitutional and administrative law, emotional and social intelligence, ethical decision-making, problem-solving, emotional survival, and public speaking.
