The Christian County School District will receive $1.5 million over the next five years through the Prichard Committee’s Committee’s Kentucky Community Schools Initiative.

The Prichard Committee was awarded a $47 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education last year, and it will channel $30 million of that grant directly into the Kentucky education system through the implementation of full-service community schools.

Christian County School’s Director of Communications Johnna Brown said the funding will help provide wraparound services that include parent and community involvement, including mental health services and programs through the district’s family resource and youth service centers.

According to the Prichard Committee, the Kentucky Community Schools Initiative champions community-led educational solutions tailored specifically for Kentucky students and their families. When implemented effectively, the community schools model has been proven to boost student outcomes, increase college enrollments, and contribute to the overall well-being of students.
