For all of Saturday, local high school bands in the News Edge listening area will find themselves battling in Kentucky Music Educators Association regional competition — where top scorers advance into the annual state tournament.
In Class A West, Todd County has a 6:30 PM performance at Muhlenberg County High School.
In Class 2A West, Trigg County has a 6 PM performance slot at Warren East High School, while Caldwell County has its chance to shine at 8:30 PM.
And then Class 4A is also at Muhlenberg County High School, where Hopkinsville rolls at 12:30 PM and Christian County stars at 1:30 PM. Two other high school bands are expected between the performances.
Those who advance will have to embrace next weekend’s semifinals in Bowling Green and Glasgow, and finals are slated to later convene at Western Kentucky University’s Houchens Stadium in Bowling Green.
