Hopkinsville Police Chief Saves Woman From Burning Home

A woman was saved from a burning home on East 4th Street Monday morning.

Hopkinsville Fire Department spokesman Payton Rogers says Police Chief Jason Newby tried to enter the home through the front door but was unable to go very far inside due to smoke but he was able to pull a woman out of a window on the side of the house.

The woman was taken by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health for what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Rogers says no one else was found inside the home but due to the extensive damage and the cause of the fire being under investigation, no one will be able to stay inside the home.

The fire started in a hallway. East 4th Street was completely blocked near the intersection of Mechanic Street for several hours.
