A Hopkinsville man was charged for allegedly biting a nurse after he was arrested for DUI on East 9th Street Wednesday night.
Hopkinsville Police say a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Tremayne Welch was eastbound when it crossed over the median struck a curb, and entered an open field at the Trail of Tears Park, before hitting a fence.
Welch reportedly failed field sobriety tests and an open bottle of alcohol was found on him and in his vehicle.
While at the hospital, police say Welch bit a nurse on the bicep and was found to have a very high level of meth during testing.
Welch was arrested and charged with no operator’s license, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, DUI, and third-degree assault.
Welch’s passenger 32-year-old Keyonta Quarles was also arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
