Between going to workshops, mega mall shopping, and touring the showcase expo Trigg County FFA has been busy in Indianapolis, Indiana at the 96th annual National FFA Convention.
Among the highlights, Kinley Humphries received her American FFA Degree Saturday morning.
Along with the two advisors Karen Nolcox and Jodie P’pool came 15 members, one of which being the freshman creed speaker.
Juan Bendana, an inspirational speaker and comedian, was the keynote speaker for this year’s National FFA Convention. He spoke of the importance of persistence and dealing with your fears. He also talked about the need for confidence and facing life head on. He made the sixty-six thousand FFA members attending the first opening session laugh many times while telling his stories of many unique excursions on an out of the country trip he once attended. One of the stories was that of a pony which happened to be just a little bit too small for him to ride on. Despite the pony’s size, it was brave. It even faced a dangerous snake head on.
While in Indiana, Trigg County FFA took a trip to Fair Oaks farms. While there they got the chance to see how the farm milks and takes care of their dairy cattle and how the farm handles and raises their pigs from piglets to full grown adults. Also while there, the FFA had the opportunity to see a dairy heifer give birth to her very first calf.
