While state election races captivated the Commonwealth, local business still had to be conducted Tuesday evening — as Cadiz City Council briefly met for an October wrap-up and November business.
At the top of everyone’s mind: a successful Trigg County Country Ham Festival, and the efforts of Renaissance On Main Director Brianna Hyde surrounding it.
Officials totals aren’t yet available in regard to sales and attendance, but Councilwoman Brenda Price, Mayor Todd King and others agreed she had done her part to make the weekend smooth and effective.
Furthermore, in delivering his monthly report, Cadiz Police Chief Tyler Thomas noted that despite warm weather and large crowds, only one disorderly man had to be arrested during the pig shindig.
Thomas said there were more than 480 calls of service in October, including 10 vehicle collisions, most of which were with deer along the U.S. 68/80 Bypass. His department is still looking for one patrol officer and one school resource officer to fill the staff.
Trigg County High School seniors Ciarrah Burchnell and Jessie Paulter were in attendance for the Leadership class, looking to observe how local leadership conducts official business.
Both Bob Noel and Craig Fowler were unanimously reappointed to the Trigg County Hospital’s Board of Directors.
City Councilwoman Susan Bryant, an avid walker, asked for residents to kindly remember to remove pet waste from the town’s walking trail. It was suggested that plastic bag dispensers be made available for pickup, and this purchase may be discussed at a later meeting.
Public Works Director Craig Oakley confirmed the paint job on the Johnson Controls water tower was recently completed, and it went back into service Tuesday night.
