Leadership from Hopkinsville Community College spent Friday afternoon sending their students back out into the world, following a pair of graduation ceremonies and a nurse’s pinning in the Thomas L. Riley Lecture Hall.
A capstone event for HCC’s best and brightest, Chief Academic Affairs Officer Dr. Chris Boyett noted more than 700 degrees, diplomas and certificates were earned this semester.
And a big reason for this kind of success, he said, comes from the nurturing support of others.
HCC Student Government President Abigail Love also offered words of encouragement to her class.
A former UHA graduate, she spent the last semester serving as student regent for HCC’s board, and lauded the places, and the people, surrounding this campus — one first developed in 1965.
Melissa Dougherty, HCC associate professor of chemistry and faculty rep to the HCC board, brought forth one “class style exercise” with the graduates — one illustrating the different walks and talks of life involved with community college.
She also turned these rhetorical questions toward her fellow faculty and staff.
Several graduates donned a red-white-and-blue cord around their necks, signifying they had been, or are currently, veterans of the Armed Forces.
Fort Campbell has been, and will continually be, a strong pipeline for HCC’s student population.
