Calmer Weekend Forecast Ahead, Some Showers Possible

The weather forecast calls for a much calmer weekend.

Weather Edge forecaster David Powell says this weekend, while rain chances remain possible, severe storms will not be a concern.

Those aforementioned Christmas parades include Cerulean’s at 4:30 PM, Elkton’s at 5:00 PM, and Hopkinsville’s at 5:15 PM Saturday. Both Hopkinsville’s and Elkton’s were postponed to this Saturday following the severe storm threat last weekend, which produced an EF-2 tornado in southern Todd County.

Powell adds there will be cooler temperatures as we head into next week.

According to the National Weather Service, to qualify as a White Christmas there must be at least an inch of snowfall on the ground as of 6:00 Christmas morning. There is typically only a five to ten percent chance of a White Christmas each year.

Parts of western Kentucky received up to two inches of snow last Christmas. In 2004, there were nearly nine inches of snow on the ground on Christmas Day.
