Christian County Schools To Begin Winter Break On Thursday

Christian County Public Schools will release for the Christmas holidays on Wednesday, which is a bit later than some other school districts in western Kentucky.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel said the three days on the schedule this week will allow for an earlier release in May so long as there is no severe winter weather.

click to download audioAs the first semester draws to a close, Bentzel said preparing students for their advancement remains a high priority.

click to download audioEarlier this year, the school district received a $1.5 million grant to be spread out over the next five years through the Prichard Committee’s Committee’s Kentucky Community Schools Initiative.

School officials said the funding will help provide those wraparound services that include parent and community involvement, including mental health services and programs through the district’s family resource and youth service centers.
