Bond Reduction Denied in East 1st Street Shooting Case

A reduction in bond for the Hopkinsville man charged with multiple counts of attempted murder stemming from an October shooting was denied in Christian County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

37-year-old Phillip Sanders stands accused of five counts of attempted murder, 14 counts of wanton endangerment, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, and drug trafficking.

Hopkinsville Police said Sanders fired shots into an East First Street home on October 2 with those shots also damaging a car outside the home. They said Sanders struck a fire hydrant with his vehicle while leaving the scene.

Sanders has been in the Christian County Jail since October 24 on a $45,000. His attorney Olivia Adams requested the bond motion which Circuit Judge John Atkins denied.
