Western Kentucky is going to pay for mild December weather with three weather systems over the coming week.
The first storm Monday afternoon and Monday night will bring widespread soaking rain and gusty winds through Tuesday night. Sean Poulous with the National Weather Service office in Paducah said about an inch to two inches should arrive over the next 24 hours.
click to download audioWind gusts between 35 and 45 miles per hour are expected Monday night into Tuesday morning. A wind advisory is in effect from 9:00 Monday night until Tuesday morning at 7:00 for Trigg, Christian, Todd, and Calloway counties.
Another weather disturbance will move into the southern Pennyrile region on Thursday night, bringing additional rain through Friday afternoon, with a transition to light snow possible on Friday night.
However, accumulations are expected to be small if any.
The main weather impact will be wind chills that could drop as low as 10 degrees on Saturday morning and single digits on Sunday and Monday.
