The Hopkinsville man who led police on two chases over the period of a week last July while he was on the run from law enforcement is expected to be released on bond following a Wednesday morning appearance in Christian County Circuit Court.
Earl Cook is charged with four felony counts, including first-degree assault, and two counts of first-degree criminal mischief.
Cook’s attorney informed the court the suspect’s grandmother agreed to put up a property bond to free her grandson. The property, worth $179,000, would be enough to cover Cook’s $25,000 cash bond.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Maureen Leamy objected to the bond reduction request.

click to download audioPolice said Cook led them on two different police chases over the summer while he had outstanding warrants. He was located in Trigg County in late August and was arrested for what police said was the 15th time.
A charge of possession of stolen mail matter was dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth during Wednesday’s hearing.
