State police are reporting that the missing 5-year old child, Lela Black, has been located safely, and her biological father, Byron Black, of Princeton, has been taken into custody.
According to Kentucky State Police, they were contacted by the Princeton Police Department Sunday afternoon around 2:00 requesting their help with a death investigation after officers found the body of the child’s mother, Kelly Black during a welfare check at a home on Center Street. Police said an investigation determined Kelly Black died after she was shot in the back of the head.
An arrest warrant was obtained by law enforcement for 42-year old Byron Black for murder. Police said Byron Black had fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.
Authorities issued an AMBER alert for the child Monday morning who they believed was with her biological father, Byron Black.
No other information about where the child and father were found Monday afternoon has been released by Kentucky State Police.
