A Princeton man charged with the murder of his wife appeared for an arraignment in Caldwell District Court Wednesday afternoon.
42-year old Byron Black appeared before Judge Brandon Knoth, who entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
A preliminary hearing was set for 8:30 Monday morning, February 5th.
Black is accused of the murder of his wife, Kelly Black, whose body was discovered by the Princeton Police Department Sunday afternoon during a welfare check at a home on Center Street.
After finding the body, Princeton Police contacted Kentucky State Police and requested a death investigation. State Police reported that Black died after she was shot in the back of the head.
Authorities said Black had fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement and also discovered that his 5-year old, Lela Black was missing. An AMBER alert was issued for the child Monday morning who police believed was with her biological father, Byron Black. A few hours later, the child was found safe and her father was taken into custody at a motel in Princeton.
Black is lodged in the Caldwell County Jail under a $1 million bond.
