Billy Calvin Swanner, age 85, of Hopkinsville, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family with the care of their loved one.
Mr. Swanner was born on October 19, 1938, in England, Ark., the son of the late Jesse Linzey and Geneva Alma Childress Swanner. Billy worked for 28 years at Owasso Furniture in Arkansas and retired from security at US Tobacco. He was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Fern Swanner; his sister, Willie Mae English; and his granddaughter, Natasha Bond.
Survivors include his wife of 8 years, Loretta Swanner of Hopkinsville; his daughter, Jerry Lyndsey Gossett of Greenville, KY; his stepsons, Jack Robinson (Jenny) of Hampton, VA, Will Robinson of North Carolina; his stepdaughter, Evelyn Velez (Louis) of Hopkinsville, KY; his nine grandchildren, Amber Parker, Jessica Parker, Jessie Brantley, Tabatha Back, Christopher Most, Kristopher Robinson, Tanner Robinson, and Skylar Robinson; his thirteen great-grandchildren; and his three great-great-grandchildren.
