According to the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, cellular service issues are being reported nationwide Thursday morning. Officials noted that while outages have been reported in several areas of the United States, the country is not experiencing a system-wide failure.

State officials said they were made aware of the issues around 5:00 am EST that were affecting all three major carriers, with AT&T experiencing most of the issues. Officials also said this may impact our ability to reach 9-1-1, in the event of an emergency. If you are unable to reach 9-1-1, they say you should use a landline as those services don’t seem to be impacted.

Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin says that Caldwell County’s 9-1-1 has not had any issues yet, but other counties are reporting problems.

He says Crittenden County’s 9-1-1 is experiencing problems.

If you have an emergency, McCaslin says you may have to find a neighbor who has service or has a landline.

As of 7:00 am, the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security reported it has received reports that AT&T service is being restored.
