Thomas “Tom” R. Knight, age 83, of Dover, Tennessee, a “Between the Rivers” native, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Kentucky.

Born November 29, 1940, in Golden Pond, Kentucky, to the late George W. and Ernestine (Wallace) Knight, Tom grew up “between the rivers”, surrounded by a large and loving family.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Tom served his country with honor and distinction. Upon returning to civilian life, he continued to work hard as a heavy equipment operator, eventually retiring from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).

Alongside his work, Tom was an active member of the Cumberland City Masonic Lodge, where he formed many lasting friendships over the years.

Tom loved the outdoors. An avid fisherman and hunter, he especially enjoyed turkey hunting. His passion for sports was unwavering as a spirited, devoted fan of University of Kentucky basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball teams. He also enjoyed playing pool and an occasional trip to the casino, where he relished the thrill of the game.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Knight; two sisters, Sue Spurlin and Diane Banister; and a step-grandson, Josh Mitchell.
