A Hopkinsville man was charged with possession of drugs and arrested on several warrants after a traffic stop on East 9th Street Thursday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Demetrius Williams For driving with his high beams on and during the stop, he had blue pills in his hand and the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
He was found to have active warrants for theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking shoplifting, second-degree criminal trespassing, failure to appear, and third-degree burglary.
Police say the pills were believed to be fentanyl and after a search of the vehicle a THC pen and marijuana were found.
Williams was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, second-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), operating on a suspended or revoked license, and failure to maintain required insurance.
