Despite ongoing delays that have pushed the opening of Trigg County High School’s Career and Technical Center to the fall, noticeable work is being completed inside that should get the building open for students on time.
Trigg County Schools Superintendent Bill Thorpe said flooring was installed in February and furniture was moved onto the top floor earlier this month.
click to download audioSchool officials and at least two school board members have expressed disappointment at the delays in completing the project that had a $10 million check presentation from the state in November of 2021. Thorpe said labor and supply chain issues have been the biggest problems associated with the timetable, but there were other problems such as uncovering an old coal pit on the site and drainage issues.
Instead of getting into the building before Christmas, students should be able to utilize the facility this fall. In addition to labs and classrooms, the CTE building will also have a renovated home for the Trigg Tots program.
Thorpe said the building should be the envy of other school districts in the area once it’s completed.

Trigg County High School offers 18 career pathways with a long-term goal of increasing its numbers through the use of the renovated building that was first constructed in 1974.
