Another night at the 57th Annual Cadiz Rotary Radio Auction, meant another bidding war in the name of Trigg County youth and senior citizens.
Among the 83 items sold live Wednesday night at the Cadiz Baptist Annex — and a grand total of $17,648 with Country Store and online efforts — came four tickets to an Atlanta Braves baseball game, courtesy of Dr. Scott Sutherland and the Cadiz Eye Clinic.
Set in Section 220 of Truist Park, it’s better known as the Xfinity Club with access to a parking pass in the Green Deck.
News Edge President & CEO Beth Mann had the call.
Home tickets are clearly coveted, and it makes sense. With Wednesday night’s 5-4 win in extra innings against the Houston Astros, Ronald Acuna Jr. and the Braves have taken four straight, sit at 12-5 and possess a two-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East Division.
More than 200 items remain either for in-person or “Big Deals Store” bidding, and many of them are big ticket, including:
— A 12-foot trailer from Stallons Auto Sales
— A 40-foot, six-month new slip rental from Lake Barkley Marina
— A 12-foot aluminum trailer from Beth & John Sumner, as well as Joe & Ashley Nichols
— A 25-long gun safe from Hutson Inc.
— A 50-gallon sprayer, fit for UTV work, from Bestway Ag
— Three loads of Trigg County topsoil from L&H Farms
— A full-day pontoon rental from Lake Barkley Marina
— A portable generator from Trigg Supply
— Four hours of skid steer and mini excavator work from David Stone
— A trio of different hunting rifles all available pending a background check: including an AR-15, a TriStar Raptor 12-gauge and a Weatherby Element 20-gauge
— A season pass to the 2024-25 slate from the Alhambra Theatre and the Pennyroyal Arts Council
— Five nights of non-seasonal, non-holiday, non-weekend lodging at Prizer Point
— A laser tag party at the Ridge Training Center in Cadiz
— A four-night, three-day condo reservation in Sandestin, Florida, available between September 6 and October 24
— A set of 10-channel digital hearing aids from Audible Learning Center
And so much more.
Mann noted the goal of 1,000 items donated, and sold, is fast approaching with just two days remaining, and she shined some light on this week’s youthful helpers for the auction — and why these efforts matter.
Alana Baker-Dunn, a previous auction chair, also assured that “Century Club” matches are coming for Thursday and Friday.
The Way Christian Youth Center provided dinner, where $10 nabbed homemade lasagna, a breadstick, a side salad, cookies and a drink, and $8 nabbed everything but the pasta.
Trigg County Farm Bureau Insurance was Wednesday’s “Bell Sponsor,” and it was hammered many times following the famous catchphrase: “If we don’t get the ring, we don’t get the ding.”
Thursday’s meal goes to benefit Trigg County Project Graduation, with pork chops and chicken sandwiches.
