Joy Closet, a Hopkinsville organization serving the nine counties of the Pennyrile region, kicked off a campaign to build the Hope House to help children who are in the foster care system.

During an informational meeting about the facility Thursday afternoon, Executive Director Heather Gray and those who are helping to make the dream a reality shared what they hope to accomplish.

Hope House Manager Julia Roberts, a foster mother, shared stories about some of the children she has helped over the last couple of years. Now in the stage of life where she has a few younger children who need her attention, Roberts has had to slow down on bringing new children into her home for the time being.

The Hope House will serve as a home where case workers from DCBS and children can go on the day they are removed from their homes.

The initial renderings of the Hope House and eventual construction will be completed through Legacy Metals. CEO Lewis Stoll has a mission to help those who can’t help themselves and added this was a project he wanted to get behind.

The construction of the Hopkinsville Hope House comes in around $270,000. Joy Closet is looking for donations and has the option for those who can make more significant donations to have a room named after themselves or their business for a year.
Donations can be made at JoyCloset.org – include Hope House in the comments.
