Second Hopkinsville Man Given Probation in 2021 Overdose Death

A second man charged with the 2021 overdose death of a Crofton woman was also given probation in Christian County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Seth Henderson of Hopkinsville had previously entered a guilty plea to manslaughter and trafficking in a controlled substance. The Commonwealth had recommended a five-year prison sentence on each charge for a total of five years. Judge Andrew Self affirmed that recommendation with his sentencing.

Because Henderson had already served 755 days in jail before the guilty plea, he was eligible for probation immediately. Judge Self offered advice for Henderson moving forward.

However, that charge was dismissed by the court last year after former Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling was accused of falsifying his testimony about text messages about Henderson to the grand jury.

After hearing arguments based on testimony from the Christian County sheriff’s detectives and a review of the grand jury proceeding, Judge Self granted the motion to dismiss the indictment and found that Boling had provided false or misleading information to the grand jury that led to the original indictment.

Last June, the Kentucky Supreme Court suspended Boling’s law license for five years, citing Henderson’s case and others.
