A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting and choking a juvenile on Means Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say 32-year-old Alex Settles entered the home and began assaulting his juvenile daughter by hitting her repeatedly before choking her while taking her phone from her.
The child’s mother then broke the fight up and police say Settles threatened to kill everyone in the home and went to his vehicle to retrieve a gun, then pointed it at one of them.
As he was being booked in the Christian County Jail police say he sent text messages to his daughter offering her money to claim he didn’t choke her.
He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, third-degree terroristic threatening, second-degree robbery, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree strangulation, second-degree burglary, bribing a witness, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
