The City of Hopkinsville and Christian County will be spending three-million dollars to upgrade the emergency radio system and build a road in South Park. Tuesday night, Ward 6 Councilman Travis Martin asked City Clerk Brittany Byrum to read a prepared municipal order to fund a new road.

click to download audioAfter a 10 minute discussion about potential litigation surrounding the land, City Council voted 7 to 1 to approve the funding. Chuck Crabtree voted no. Matthew Handy and Natasha Francis abstained and Jamie Lienberger and Doug Wilcox were absent.
In other business, City Council voted to approve an interlocal agreement for $2.5 million in upgrades to the emergency response radio system to be split between the City and the County with Oak Grove making a one time payment of $250,000. Members also approved a sublease agreement of radio towers.
Mayor Knight recended his designee appointment to the Hopkinsville-Christian County Ambulance Service Board and says he will be attending those meetings himself going forward.
