Helen Hightower Poe, 89, of Hopkinsville, died at 8:45 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Bradford Heights Nursing & Rehab in Hopkinsville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. David Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Logan County, Kentucky she was born on January 28, 1935, the daughter of the late Carl T. Hightower and Bessie Pulley Hightower. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hugh Poe, her son, Jeffrey Carl Poe, and her grandchild, Brittney Lane Poe.
She worked for the Christian County Board of Education as a Food Service Director, was involved with the Compassionate Friends Organization, and was an active member of Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons: Kenny (Diane) Poe and Jimmy (Debbie) Poe both of Hopkinsville, KY; her brothers, Richard Hightower of Crofton, KY, Jerry Hightower of Hopkinsville, KY, Charles Hightower of Crofton, KY, Randy Hightower of Hopkinsville, KY and Larry Hightower of Cadiz, KY; her sisters, Wanda Hook of Hopkinsville, KY, Janice Petrin of Chesapeake, VA and Reta Manire of Crofton, KY; her grandchildren, Jennifer Stallins, Eric, and Ashley Poe; great-grandchildren, Lily Stallins and Corbin Poe; her step-grandchildren, Amy Lewis, Brad Johnson and Patrick Vier along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
