Man And Woman Charged After Christian County High-speed Pursuit

A pursuit that started on East 9th Street in Hopkinsville ended in Hopkins County with a man and a woman being taken into custody Monday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they were alerted of a stolen vehicle in the area of the Huck’s gas station and when they attempted to stop it, the driver 37-year-old Christopher Smith fled at speeds of over 100 mph.

Kentucky State Police were reportedly able to spike the vehicle at the 28-mile marker of Pennyrile Parkway and Christian County Sheriff’s deputies were able to use a precision immobilization technique to end the pursuit at exit 33 in Hopkins County.

Smith and his passenger 39-year-old Jeannette Marrs were both taken into custody. After a search of their belongings cocaine was reportedly located.

they were both arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree assault of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, receiving stolen property, possession of cocaine, first-degree criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. Smith was also charged with several traffic violations.
