William “Bill” Fisher, 76, of Hopkinsville, died at 10:19 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Andrew Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Chattanooga, TN he was born June 10, 1947, the son of the late Lawrence Fisher and Alma Pauline Fisher. Bill was a graduate of Austin Peay State University where he was a member of Phi Mu Alpha. He then went on to complete his Master’s Degree at Murray State University. While serving his country in the United States Air Force, Bill rose to the rank of SGT while stationed at Langley Air Force Base. During his time in the Air Force, Bill served in the U.S. Air Force Band.
Mr. Fisher was best known as a band director at Christian County High School from 1978 to 1998; he also served as a band director at Christian County Middle School from 1974 to 1978, North Drive Middle School from 1989 to 2003, Henry County High School from 2010 to 2011, and Christian Heritage School from 2016 to 2024.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mickey Fisher.
Survivors include his wife: Alicia Fisher; his daughter: Jennifer Fisher (Melton “Tater” Mashburn) of Hopkinsville, KY; his sister: Gloria Ann (Greg) Lee of Ringold, GA; and his sister-in-law: Sandy Fisher of Tunnel Hill, GA.
