Heritage Christian Academy senior Bradley Boyd is the recipient of the 2024 Barry Lutz/Jim Dorris Memorial Scholarship that the Pennyrile Umpires Association presented on Monday.
Lutz and Dorris combined for 66 years of experience in umpiring and training new umpires, many of which are still involved in baseball. Both men died in 2018.
The PUA created the Barry Lutz/Jim Dorris Memorial Scholarship in their honor. It is awarded each year to a student-athlete who exemplifies the same qualities as Lutz and Dorris on and off the field.
Bradley has been a member of the Heritage Christian Academy baseball team since the 6th grade and plans to attend Murray State University and pursue a degree in pre-dental biology.
