An Ohio man paroled in a 2004 murder in eastern Kentucky received a seven-year prison sentence in Christian County after pleading guilty to a stabbing that occurred in Oak Grove last year.
49-year-old Albert Workman Jr. was given a seven-year sentence in Christian County Circuit Court by Judge Andrew Self last week.
Oak Grove Police said Workman stabbed the victim multiple times during an argument on Belew Street last August.
In asking for probation for his client, defense attorney Doug Moore said Workman acted in self-defense.

click to download audioProsecutors said the victim suffered several injuries and was left with a disfigured hand. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Mark Gilbert said probation wasn’t acceptable in this case.
click to download audioWorkman was convicted of killing a Martin County man in 2004 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder. A police report said the victim was beaten after apparent unwanted sexual advances had been made by the deceased towards Workman.
Moore said the murder was an unusual progression in Workman’s criminal history.
