For more than 29 years, Brian Futrell has been a voice in the Trigg County Schools — on a rise through the elementary ranks all the way to principal of Trigg County Intermediate.
His tenure, however, is nearing its end.
In a letter delivered to the district and Superintendent Bill Thorpe last week, Futrell confirmed he will be retiring effective Friday, August 30 — with plans of helping a new TIS principal integrate for a smooth transition into the 2024-25 school year.
Futrell’s position has already been posted to the school’s online job board.
A former coach of Trigg County Wildcats baseball, he most recently oversaw the Trigg County Primary/Intermediate renovation — part of a $16 million campus effort that began in 2019 and finished in late 2021.
He has also filed for re-election on the Cadiz City Council as an incumbent.
