Thursday morning, officials with the Cadiz Police Department presented Officer Rusty Rosencrance with the city’s “Life Saving Award,” following his actions in a recent rescue.

According to Police Chief Tyler Thomas, Rosencrance saved a woman that was suffering from ideations and action to harm her own life. Officers had been searching several hours for the undisclosed woman, when he took the initiative to search a heavily-wooded area, believed to be her location.

He found her and assisted with life-saving measures before emergency personnel arrived for full support measures.

Thomas said had it not been for Rosencrance’s determination and efforts, it was evident the woman would have died to her actions. This woman has since made a recovery and has been placed in treatment.

Thomas also noted that the Cadiz Police Department values its mission and vision to adequately service and support the community, in all aspects of law enforcement.

The National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is 988, and citizens can dial 911 — even without cell phone reception.
