Christian County Grand Jury Issues Assault and Endangerment Indictments

The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments Friday including an assault charge against an Oak Grove man in connection to an April shooting.

A true bill was returned on Adrian Murray on a single count of first-degree assault from a shooting that led to a man being flown to a Nashville hospital on April 26th.

According to Oak Grove Police, officers responded to a shots fired call with someone unresponsive on Gail Street. When police arrived, they found shell casings and blood in the area but didn’t find anyone who was injured.

Police say the man who had been shot was later located in Clarksville and flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center due to his injuries.

Murray was allegedly arrested after police obtained a search warrant for his home.

The grand jury also indicted Demarcus McCarly of Hopkinsville on first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, trafficking in cocaine, fentanyl and meth while armed, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, fleeing and evading police, resisting arrest, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, and operating on a suspended or revoked license.

The charges stem from May 15th when Hopkinsville Police arrived at McCarley’s residence to conduct a search. During the operation, police said McCarley attempted to escape in a rental vehicle, colliding with a police cruiser and nearly striking an officer who was on foot.

And Kelly North of Hopkinsville was issued an indictment on three counts of wanton endangerment. She is accused of pulling a gun on her neighbor over a child’s bicycle that was at a neighbor’s house on McPherson Street on April 27th.
