While former Hopkinsville High big man Jamarion Sharp did not hear his name called during the two rounds of the NBA Draft last week, he does have a path to the NBA.
Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress said Sharp has signed a deal with the Dallas Mavericks and will join the Mavs during the summer league and will play in Las Vegas with a shot of making the team.
Sharp spent last season at Ole Miss after transferring in from Western Kentucky. He also spent two seasons at John A. Logan Junior College.
He averaged 3.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks for the Rebels last year.
At Western Kentucky, Sharp was named All-Conference, was a two-time selection to the Conference USA All-Defensive Team, and was named the conference’s defensive player of the year.
At 7 foot 4, Sharp has a wingspan of 7’9’’ and a standing reach of 9’10”.
