It may be hard to shoot off fireworks on the Fourth of July due to the expected rain in western Kentucky.
Derrick Snyder with the Paducah Weather Service Office said rain this week is expected to begin on Wednesday.

click to download audioThe average temperature in June was 74.5 degrees, which ranks outside the top 10 for hottest and coldest for the month.
According to the Kentucky Mesonet, there were eight days in June with a temperature in the 90s compared to two last year and eight in 2022.
The heat index topped 100 degrees six times last month, compared to two last year and seven in 2022. Saturday’s heat index reading of 110 degrees was the highest of the year.
Rainfall is still tracking at 4.5 inches above normal for the year with the four inches received in June right at the normal for the month.
