Bobby Gene Wood, passed away on July 1, 2024, at the age of 77 at Caldwell Medical Center.
Bobby was born on May 22, 1947, in Caldwell County, KY to the late Garland and Mayme Larkins Wood. Bobby attended Butler High School before he proudly obtained his Bachelor’s in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky. His education fueled his lifelong passion for farming, enabling him to expertly manage his family’s farm alongside his lifetime farm partner, Charles McAlister. There, they dedicated their life to raising hogs, cultivating roll crops, and expertly producing burley, dark-fired, and air-cured tobacco. Beyond the fields, Bobby’s commitment to service and leadership was evident through his involvement in the Wallonia Mark Tyler Lodge #319 where he served as the past Master. His journey within the brotherhood reached high distinction as he held the honor of being a Scottish Rite 32nd-degree mason, receiving his fifty-year pin, a member of Rizpah Temple Shriners in Madisonville, KY and the Cerulean Springs Lodge #875. Bobby was also a member of Blue Spring Missionary Baptist Church.
Bobby found joy in the simpler pleasures of life. He enjoyed reading and he spent countless hours riding around on his RTV with his beloved dogs, Grace and Zack, exploring the countryside that he so loved. Bobby also had a passion for restoring antique tractors, watching NASCAR and mowing his yard.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patsy Mashburn Wood; daughter, Endie (Terry) Haney of Trigg County; sons, John (Susanne Davis) Wood of Lexington, KY and William (Heather) Wood of Caldwell County; two sisters, Wanda Rose Mitchell of Trigg County and Nancy Cates of Evansville, IN; three grandchildren, Dalton Haney, Alexis Wood and Addison Wood; several nieces and nephews.
