Joe Peca is playing his third summer of Ohio Valley League baseball — the last two with the Paducah Chiefs.
The former Trigg County standout has seen limited action in two seasons at Murray State University but is hoping a solid summer will be a springboard for him in 2025.
The hard-throwing lefty has started three games for the Chiefs this summer and has produced a minuscule 0.97 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched.
Peca was an All-District and All-Region performer for the Wildcats in 2021, striking out 61 in 37 innings pitched with a 3.35 ERA.
Fast forward three years and Peca knows he needs better command of his off-speed pitches to see his college appearances increase. That’s where the summer work comes in.
Peca broke down his summer work in this YSE Spotlight Athlete interview.
