Price, Hopkins County Native, Named GSP Executive Director

Governor Andy Beshear and the Governor’s Scholars Program Board of Directors introduced Dr. Jennifer Price, of Georgetown, Thursday afternoon — as the educational organization’s next executive director.

Succeeding the long-serving Dr. Aris Cedeño, she’s a native of Hopkins County, a 1992 GSP scholar of Murray State University, and first returned to the program as a resident advisor in 1994.

In 1995, she served as RA at the Northern Kentucky University campus, where Beshear himself attended as a scholar.

Over the following years, she has held every position within GSP, including: scholar, RA, head RA, office staff, faculty, associate campus director and campus director. For the last two summers, she has been academic dean.

A graduate of South Hopkins High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Transylvania University before pivoting to the University of Arkansas for a master’s degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She also completed a predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Dartmouth Medical School and the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

She also taught in Georgetown College’s psychology department for 20 years, and most recently served as the school’s teaching and learning center director.
